Furniture for London Borough of Sutton
Community Centre & Library Fit-out
Project remit
LB Sutton commissioned the rebuilding of the Ridge Road Library and decided to go a step further by giving Sutton the UK’s 1st Interactive Media Community Centre with an emphasis on Youth. The requirement was for furniture, Library shelving and soft seating using vibrant colours to give a functional & durable but open & modern aesthetic. Flexibility was also a factor as the ‘Life Zone’ had to handle school groups of up to 100 children so particular requirements were needed for classroom furniture, modular tables & folding chairs with the ability to adapt to the needs of individual groups.
Project location
West Sutton, Surrey
Project value
£60,000
Client comment
The Sutton Life Centre was the 1st interactive Media Community Centre and really needed to be something special!! JS delivered something special, both on time & within budget. The official opening by Nick Clegg was a day to be proud of and thanks to JS for being part of the team that delivered a stunning building for the Community & Youth of Sutton
